Early Life and Education
The Presidential Digital Library is an official online archive dedicated to preserving, organizing, and showcasing all information related to the President of the Republic of Somaliland, Abdirahman Mohamed Abdillahi (Irro).
It serves as a central, trusted source where citizens, researchers, students, journalists, and institutions can access verified materials about the President’s life, leadership, policies, and contributions to the nation.
Designed with transparency and accessibility in mind, the Digital Library brings together a wide collection of presidential documents, speeches, photographs, videos, publications, historical records, and media appearances. It also offers interactive features that allow users to explore timelines, key national initiatives, international engagements, and major milestones throughout the President’s career.
The purpose of the Presidential Digital Library is to safeguard national history, promote open knowledge, and provide future generations with a comprehensive archive of the President’s work and impact. Through this platform, the public can gain a deeper understanding of the President’s vision, leadership style, and dedication to peace, development, and the advancement of Somaliland.
Political Career and Leadership
Dr. Irro began his career in diplomacy, serving at Somaliland’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1981 to 1996, where he held key roles including First Secretary and Acting Ambassador to Moscow. Returning to Somaliland in 1999, he co-founded the UCID party, contributing significantly to the country’s political development. Elected to Parliament in 2005 with the highest votes in the Sahil region, he went on to serve as Speaker for 12 years, championing peaceful transitions and democratic governance. In 2012, he founded the WADDANI party, which became a major political force, achieving landmark success in the 2021 parliamentary and local elections.
